Ghosts of Monticello Film Notes
Some notes about how I’m envisioning a film based on Ghosts of Monticello in no particular order.
I love how Derek Jarmin’s film Edward II plays with light. And the set is pretty spare and representational. He does a wonderful job of merging historical time periods with a contemporary sensibility. Of course this film is much higher budget than what we could probably do – but he makes use of limited locations while still being captivating.
I know Michael Sean Foley, a digital animator who created the digital animation for the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. This film was shot entirely in front of a green screen. Michael Sean created led the CGI lighting. Once again, a lot higher budget – but it shows a direction we could take.
Here is a documentary on it. You can see Michael Sean @ around 19:35.
